The stars are within you

The universe is not a distant spectacle but an intimate reflection. The deeper you gaze into the cosmos, the more you encounter yourself. Observation is not passive—it is participation. You are entangled with the very fabric of reality, woven into a cosmic feedback loop where awareness and existence mirror one another.

There is no true separation between the observer and the observed. The same force that spirals galaxies into being pulses through your cells. You are not an isolated fragment of life—you are a living expression of the whole. The geometry of the universe lives within you; the singularity at the heart of a black hole echoes in your own being.

To witness reality is to shape it. You are not a small point of awareness in a vast void—you are the vastness, momentarily aware of itself. The stars are not only above you; they are within you. Look closely enough, and you remember: you are made of the same essence as the cosmos.

How Large is the Universe?

+++
The universe has long captivated us with its immense scales of distance and time. How far does it stretch? Where does it end and what lies beyond its star fields and streams of galaxies extending as far as telescopes can see? These questions are beginning to yield to a series of extraordinary new lines of investigation and technologies that are letting us to peer into the most distant realms of the cosmos. But also at the behavior of matter and energy on the smallest of scales. The mind-blowing answer comes from a theory describing the birth of the universe in the first instant of time.

Time is flying by on this busy, crowded planet as life changes and evolves from second to second. And yet, even the life span of the human species is just a blip compared to the age of the universe, at 13.7 billion years and counting. It now seems that our entire universe is living on borrowed time. How long it can survive in any form depends on whether Stephen Hawking's theory checks out. Special thanks to Ivan Bridgewater for use of use of footage.

Manuel Filipe Santos.
