Benedict XVI met today with Ronald Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, who was accompanied by the organization's Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General. The World Jewish Congress is one of the most important Jewish organizations in the world. President Lauder thanked the Pope for his efforts in favor of Jewish-Christian dialogue. Views were exchanged on the general situation in the Middle East, including Christians in the region. Accompanying the Pope were Cardinal Kurt Koch and Father Norbert Hoffman of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity.
