Diante disso, o Papa declarou: “a Igreja e o mundo não precisam de pessoas que cumprem os seus deveres religiosos mostrando a sua fé como um rótulo exterior; precisam, pelo contrário, de operários desejosos de trabalhar no campo da missão, de discípulos apaixonados que testemunhem o Reino de Deus onde quer que estejam”.

O Pontífice ressaltou que talvez não faltem os “cristãos de ocasião” – aqueles que de vez em quando dão lugar a algum sentimento religioso ou participam em algum evento –, mas poucos são aqueles que estão prontos a trabalhar todos os dias no campo de Deus, cultivando no seu coração a semente do Evangelho para depois levá-la à vida cotidiana.

Para isso, prosseguiu o Santo Padre, não são necessárias muitas ideias teóricas sobre conceitos pastorais: é preciso, acima de tudo, rezar a Deus. “Com efeito, em primeiro lugar está a relação com o Senhor, cultivando o diálogo com Ele. Então, será Ele que nos tornará seus operários e nos enviará ao campo do mundo, como testemunhas do seu Reino”, concluiu.

Olho para o diário de Etty Hillesum e não consigo fugir da verdade crua que ela escreveu:

“Quero ajudar-te, Deus, a que não me abandones, mas eu não me posso responsabilizar por nada. Apenas uma coisa se me torna cada vez mais clara: que tu não nos podes ajudar, mas que nós devemos ajudar-te, e nisso ajudamo-nos a nós mesmos. É a única coisa de que se trata: salvar um pedaço de ti, Deus, em nós. ... Mas continuamos a empurrar-lhe a culpa.

É mais fácil culpar o Céu do que enfrentar o espelho.

Deus não tem culpa do teu casamento falhado, quando tu próprio ignoraste os sinais durante o namoro.

Deus não é responsável pela tua solidão, quando te contentas com o que te diminui por medo de estar só.

Deus não te prende à pobreza, quando não sabes gerir o pouco que tens.

Fomos nós.

Somos nós.

Com escolhas mal feitas, amores mal curados, decisões empurradas com a barriga e responsabilidades sempre adiadas.

Deus não é culpado da tua oração vazia, da tua fé fraca, da tua vida desordenada.

Deus não controla os teus impulsos, não te obriga a amar, não te força a recomeçar.

Deu-te liberdade.

Deu-te inteligência.

Deu-te um coração. E deixou-te caminhar.

Preferimos um Deus à medida dos nossos caprichos: que resolva, que limpe, que perdoe, que substitua o esforço que não queremos ter.

Mas Deus não é nosso criado.

É Pai.

E um Pai educa, espera, confia, e deixa-nos aprender — mesmo que doa.

O mundo arde em guerras, injustiças e abandono.

Mas a pergunta não é: “Onde está Deus?”

A pergunta é: “Onde estamos nós?”

A fé verdadeira não é uma desculpa, é um compromisso.

E Deus…

Talvez sejas tu que precisas de voltar.

Inspirado por São João Maria Vianney: O Significado do Sacerdócio nos Dias Atuais

Em tempos de profunda fome espiritual e desorientação moral, o padre católico continua a ser um poderoso lembrete da presença de Deus quando cumpre sua vocação com integridade e amor. Na Festa de São João Maria Vianney, padroeiro dos párocos, somos encorajados a contemplar a beleza do sacerdócio e a necessidade premente de renovação.

O sacerdócio é uma vocação sagrada, não apenas uma profissão. Um padre é consagrado para servir como ministro dos sacramentos, pastor de almas e uma representação dinâmica da compaixão de Cristo. O modelo para isso foi estabelecido por São João Maria Vianney, que demonstrou profunda humildade, devoção inabalável à sua comunidade e oração. Somos lembrados do poder transformador de uma existência santa enraizada em Deus por meio de seu testemunho.

No entanto, muitos fiéis estão legitimamente preocupados em nossa era. A Igreja foi ferida e a confiança foi dilacerada por escândalos. De forma grave e pública, certos clérigos abusaram de sua posição, negligenciando seu rebanho ou levando uma vida dupla. Embora não se envolvam em escândalos, outros podem sucumbir à fadiga espiritual, ao conforto ou ao clericalismo, ignorando o profundo significado de sua vocação. A credibilidade e a missão da Igreja foram prejudicadas por essas falhas, além dos indivíduos afetados.

Esta crise, no entanto, também oferece uma oportunidade para a verdade e a purificação. O chamado não é para abandonar o sacerdócio, mas para redescobrir sua essência. O mundo precisa de padres santos e autênticos, não de homens impecáveis. Esses padres devem ser humildes, fiéis e dispostos a servir como Cristo serviu, com misericórdia em vez de julgamento, com sacrifício em vez de status.

Os padres são atualmente obrigados a servir com compaixão, viver o celibato com alegria e proclamar o Evangelho com clareza em um mundo de confusão. Eles nunca devem perder a urgência da oração e do arrependimento, e devem permanecer próximos da Eucaristia e da confissão, como fez São João Maria Vianney.

Além de reconhecer as deficiências, devemos expressar gratidão pelos numerosos sacerdotes que persistem em desempenhar suas funções com diligência e discrição. Com coragem e profundo afeto por Cristo e Seu povo, inúmeras pessoas cumprem seu chamado em hospitais, prisões, paróquias e missões.

Rezemos nesta festa pela santificação dos sacerdotes, pela cura da Igreja e pela elevação de novos pastores com o coração de São João Maria Vianney, verdadeiros, compassivos e inabaláveis em sua devoção.

The Illusion of Possession: Greed and the Fragmented Self

Reflection on Luke 12:13 21 

Today, Jesus recounts a parable that strikes at the core of the human condition. A person requests that he serve as an arbitrator in a family dispute regarding inheritance. However, Jesus, who perceives the underlying nature of the situation, provides a more profound response: "Be cautious of all greed, for life is not defined by possessions, despite one's wealth". He then recounts the tale of the wealthy fool, a man who constructs larger barns to store his surplus grain, confident that he can finally relax and appreciate life. However, God intervenes in his plan: "You are a fool!" Your life will be required of you this evening. Wealth is not the sole focus of this narrative. It pertains to the illusion of possession and how it fragments the human psyche.

A secure future is believed to be guaranteed by man's abundance. His soul is at peace, not as a result of faith, but rather as a result of the abundance of barns. This is the initial illusion: the notion that our identity and future are determined by our possessions. However, Jesus reveals the flimsiness of that deception. The man's security was a fake, as evidenced by his abrupt, uninvited death. This spiritual peril is cautioned against in the Catechism of the Catholic Church: "The disordered desire for possessions is one of the many causes of the many conflicts that disturb the social order" (CCC 2424). And disturb the soul as well.

What happens to a soul consumed by greed? It becomes fragmented, split from its true identity, disconnected from others, and alienated from God. The rich man speaks only to himself, about himself, and for himself. His vision is inward, but not contemplative; it is isolated and egocentric. In psychological terms, such a person lives from a false self, the identity built on status, possessions, and appearance. But the true self, says St. Paul, is “hidden with Christ in God” (Col 3:3). Jesus shows us that greed is not just a moral failure; it is a crisis of identity. We lose sight of who we are because we define ourselves by what we have, rather than by who we are before God.

This teaching is echoed in the Bhagavad Gita, where Krishna teaches, “He who is unattached to all desires, who acts without ego, and is free from longing he alone finds peace” (Gita 2:71). Both Christ and Krishna warn us: Attachment leads to suffering. Possession without surrender leads to fragmentation. The way forward is not control, but detachment, not as indifference, but as inner freedom. The Gita’s teaching is not so different from Jesus’ call to be “rich toward God.”

The parable concludes with a straightforward statement from Jesus: "And so it will be for the one who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich towards God." Living in a proper relationship with God is the essence of being rich, valuing what is eternal, sharing what we receive, and placing our lives in the hands of the One who created us. "Man is created by God and for God, and God never ceases to draw man to Himself." He will only discover the truth and pleasure that he is perpetually seeking in God. (CCC 27). The yearning to be known, cherished, and secure is our most profound aspiration, which is obscured by the desire to possess. That level of satisfaction is beyond the capacity of any barn. Only God is capable of doing so.

This Gospel is not merely a warning story. It is an invitation to surrender, to simplicity, and to wholeness. The fragmented self that clings and hoards is invited to rest in the mercy of God, where nothing needs to be clutched and everything can be given. Jesus is not urging us to despise material possessions; instead, he is urging us to perceive them correctly as instruments for communion, not as substitutes for God. To give generously is to liberate our essence from fear. Detachment is the act of recalling one's identity. Our souls should be examined. In what endures, or in what perishes, are we wealthy? Allow us to be prudent rather than naive. We should not subsist by grabbing, but rather by giving. No, by sowing, rather than preserving. Wherever our treasure is, our heart will be situated as well.

🇸🇪🔥👩 👦 👦😲Uma mãe sueca se jogou em um inferno de chamas para salvar seus seis filhos, e sobreviveu com 93% do seu corpo queimado. Emma Schols, 31 anos, acordou de madrugada sentindo cheiro de fumo em sua casa em Edsbyn, Suécia. Sem esperar por ajuda, subiu descalça pelas escadas entre chamas, entrou quarto por quarto e carregou seus filhos um por um para o exterior, até se atirando de uma janela do segundo andar com os mais pequenos. Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel

"In 1884, at the end of a mass, Pope Leo XIII suddenly raised his head, straight face and eyes fixed on something.

After a few minutes of ecstasy, the Pontifical Sovereign finally regained his senses and left the church. Half an hour later, he called the secretary of the congregation in charge of rites, handed him the prayer to St. Michael, which he had just written, and instructed him to distribute it to all the bishops. The prayer was officially initiated and recited at the end of each service by the celebrant and the entire congregation.

The sentence that the Pope uttered: “(demons) that wander around the world at the expense of souls”, has an explanation, told several times by his special secretary, Monsignor Rinaldo Angeli. Leo XIII actually really had a vision of the infernal spirits that were growing on the eternal city (Rome) and from that experience came the prayer that he wanted to have the whole Church recite.

Here is the text to this short but very important prayer... :

“Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle against the evil and the snares of the devil, be our help. Please plead: Lord have it in control! And you, Prince of the heavenly militias, with the power that comes from God, cast into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the loss of souls. Amen. "

Pope Leo XIII wrote with his own hand a special exorcism contained in the Roman Ritual. (edition 1954) and recommended bishops and priests to recite these prayers often in their dioceseses and parishes.

He then had a "terrible vision of hell" and, right at the end, Saint Michael the Archangel intervened after the increase of prayers aimed at him.

With the wide spread of his prayer to St. Michael and his institution at the end of each Mass, Pope Leo XIII wanted to communicate to all believers the urgency of praying fervently for the conversion of souls and for the victory of the army of the Lord against Satan, so active in the world.
